HOW TO FIX THINNING LOCS AT THE ROOT

Here is an update on my last post on Causes of Thinning locs. The solutions to thinning locs comes in two forms:
🅰. Identifying the cause and fixing accordingly
🅱. Cosmetic solutions

🅰. Identifying the cause and addressing accordingly
1⃣. Retwisting too often - Cut down on the number of times you retwist your locs. Leave your locs alone. Do not retwist more than once a month.

2⃣. Interlocking too often - Do not retwist any more than once in two months to encourage healthy hair growth. Also do not interlock too close to your scalp.

3⃣. Over manipulating your hair - Do not wear tight protective styles. Do not keep the styles in too long

4⃣. If on any medications causing thinning locs - Discuss with your doctor for an alternative or ask for supplementary vitamins to encourage improved hair health.

5⃣. Relieve stress by eliminating any external sources of stress, engage in exercise/yoga. Maintain mental sanity.

6⃣. Eat balance diet. You're a reflection of what you take in. So eat healthy.

🅱. Cosmetic solutions
1⃣. Hot oil treatments are used to stimulate scalp and promote scalp growth if done consistently and correctly.
👁‍🗨 Jamaican Black Castor Oil + any carrier oil: This has been sworn by most to be the Holy grail. The JBCO is a thick oil and requires a lighter carrier oil of your choice  in order to enhance absorption. Warm the oils together and massage over your scalp focusing on the problem area. Repeat 2-3 times a week.

👁‍🗨 Other hot oil mixtures can be formulated using combinations of Sheabutter, Olive oil, Coconut oil, etc and used as mentioned above.

2⃣. Use of topical Rogaine: An OTC drug used to treat Alopecia. Visible hair growth is seen after 2-3 months of continued application. Results are consistent with consistent use.

3⃣. Wrap a small portion of afro/ marley hair over the thinning portion of the loc to thicken up the area.

4⃣. Cut the affected locs and reattach them again to make them more uniform.

5⃣. Combine two adjacent locs together to form a strong base for the new loc being formed. This can be achieved by
👉doing a two strand twist
👉using a crochet hook to combine both.
👉interlocking both locs at the root
