LOCS HACKS TO MAKE YOUR RETWIST LAST LONGER
A major challenge with starter locs is getting a hold on how to make your retwist last longer. This has led to a practice of unhealthy methods to achieve that via the use of heavy wax to hold the hair and avoiding to wash hair for as long as three months.
Now these tips are gonna help you curb all that.
1⃣ Use of pipe cleaners to form a tighter set of curls as soon as you retwist them can help your locs last longer before they loosen up
2⃣ Use of wig cap first on your hair before putting on the satin bonnet to restrict movement during sleep time.
3⃣ Leaving your hair in a protective styling to keep hair from unravelling. A simple two strand twist will help.
4⃣ Spritzing your hair focusing on roots rather than having your head full in the shower loosing your precious curls
5⃣ Get yourself a shower cap for bath times.
6⃣ Avoid getting an itchy scalp by moisturizing your locks with peppermint oil or tea tree oil.
7⃣ Avoid shampooing often by preventing buildup from waxes and gel. They tend to itch when you get your hair wet.
8⃣ When its wash day,use a shampoo with low-lather to avoid loosing your retwist.
9⃣ If you have an active lifestyle,use of a firm satin scarf round your locks help or you might consider interlocking or crocheting your new growth with crochet hook.
🔟 Avoid over manipulating your hair.Keep your hands off your hair. I know its tough but you can avoid this either by having your hair in a satin scarf or bun.
#⃣How to mask new growth;
Overall if you have the need to hold out your retwist,creating or forming curls on your hair tends to mask out the need for a retwist or simply retwisting the first two rows of hair can help too.

ReplyDeleteWho makes a colorless, peerless oil for loc's?
ReplyDeleteI am loving this. I have decided to loc my hair again after wearing it for 10 years. It's twisted out now going to interlock the roots Friday and when it is set I will resort to palm roll. Thanks for your article
