HOW TO REMOVE BUILDUP FROM LOCS
Buildup in locs occurs mainly as a result of accumulated dirt from products such as waxes,heavy butter or gels.
These products when initially applied to locs gives a sheen to the hair but later becomes dull in lustre from dryness and accumulated dust. These form visible product build up in locs when water is applied to it.🤔There are simple and effective ways to remove these buildup from locs
1⃣ Use of grease cutting agents such as lemon dishwasher to wash your locs.
2⃣Apple cider vinegar + baking soda soak in warm water.
Procedure;
👉Fill your sink with warm water. Add the ACV in the following ratio by mixing 2 parts of water to 1 part ACV and add in your baking soda.
👉You can also drop some slices of lemon for extra detox.
👉Leave in for 15 minutes.
3⃣Use of black soap as a residue free shampoo. Ensure that after clarifying,you deep condition by applying in oils into your locs.
4⃣ Use of bentonite clay mask is a very effective method of drawing out buildup and lint from locs after shampooing it.
Procedure;
👉Mix equal parts of ACV and bentonite clay till it has the consistency of a yoghurt.
👉This mixture is preferably done in a plastic plate as opposed to a metal one as metal can inactivate some of the properties of the clay.
👉Leave in for 30 mins,then rinse afterwards until the water is clear.
Preventive measures to avoid buildup in locs include;
1⃣ Of course,avoiding the use of the aforementioned products that cause buildup.
If it must be used,use sparingly; peanut size.
2⃣ Cleansing hair as required.
3⃣ Do not apply heavy products into your locs,instead focus onto the scalp.
4⃣ Use of light oils on your hair to avoid buildup such as coconut oil,vit e oil,essential oils,etc.
